2012Speaking at a press conference on "2012 China Culture Year in Turkey" at Istanbul’s Topkapi Palace yesterday, Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay said that he was very impressed by his visit to Shanghai in 2010 and described China as an amazingly impressive, wonderful and exciting country. Gunay said that a decision to celebrate the China Culture Year in Turkey in 2012 and Turkey Culture Year in China in 2013 was made on that trip. Stating that the culture year will bring together Turkish audience and Chinese music, dance and opera performances which are based on historical roots, but currently admired by the entire world as well, Gunay said that a music and dance exhibition would be hosted in Ankara following an inauguration ceremony to be organized along with a painting exhibition at the Cer Modern Art Center in Ankara on December 12. Gunay added that it would be possible to watch, host and applaud valuable representatives of Chinese arts in such fields as literature, cultural heritance, acrobatics and puppet arts throughout the culture year.
