Turkey entered the history book yesterday when Turkish young girls crowned with the gold medal at the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ Youth World championship in front of 7.200 excited spectators who had a big role in supporting their team in a crazy final against China.  Turkey won a hard-fought match against a valiant China team in straight sets in the final match of the 2011 FIVB Girls’ Youth World Championship at Baskent Hall in Ankara, Turkey. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated the volleyball team by sending a letter to the chairman of the Turkey Volleyball Federation Erol Unal Karabiyik. President Abdullah Gul and Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek also sent congratulatory letters to the volleyball team. Previously, the Turkish team’s best performance in FIVB Volleyball Girls’ Youth World championship was in 2007 when they placed second in the event in Mexico.
