Turkish Ambassador to Sweden underlines Sweden's interest in Turkey
Turkish Ambassador to Sweden Hakan Akesson defined the visit paid by President Abdullah Gul upon an invitation by Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf as historical, indicating that the relations between the two countries which are already perfect will be further improved thanks to the strategic partnership to be signed during Gul's visit. Speaking to the Zaman daily, Akesson said that they planned to build new cooperation possibilities as part of the strategic partnership document. Stating that the bilateral trade volume has climbed to $3.3 billion in 2012, Akesson underlined that Turkey companies have started to cooperate with the third countries as well. "Turks know the market very well, and the Swedish are knowledgeable about technology. This is a good match," Akesson said, adding that Sweden is very much interested in Turkey and that it strongly supports Turkey's EU membership. "Turkey's membership will also prove that the EU is not a Christian club, but a union of values," Akesson added.
