Turkey will host the first Turkish-Arab Economic Summit in the city of Mersin on 25 September upon the initiatives by Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan. The summit, first in a series, will be attended by the economy, investment and trade ministers of the Arab League countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Sudan, Djibouti, Tunisia, Mauritania, Palestine, Oman and Libya. Noting that the summit would be the most comprehensive Turkish-Arab economy meeting up to day, Caglayan said the focus would be the implications of the political developments in the Middle East and North Africa on the regional economies and the ways to overcome those problems and reinforce cooperation. Caglayan added that a roadmap for further cooperation in trade and investment between Turkey and Arab League countries was to be drafted during the summit.
