Turkstat revises Turkey's tourism revenue of 2012 to $29.4 billion

The total revenue from tourism which was initially stated as $23.4 billion for 2012, has been revised upwards to $29.4 billion, Chairman of Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) Birol Aydemir announced on Thursday. With the increase, the average spending by tourists in Turkey, which was estimated to be $637, is now $798. TurkStat also revised the 2012 tourism expenditures of Turks who traveled overseas to $4.6 billion, up from $4.1 billion, with the average expenditure of Turks amounting to $792.
