Winner of 2011 Nobel Prize in chemistry admires Ataturk

Speaking at a meeting held at the Menahem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem yesterday, Israeli scientist Daniel Shechtman who won the 2001 Nobel Prize in chemistry last week said that he had good friends in Turkey and sent his kindest regards to them. Shechtman said that he hoped the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) would represent the Turkish science, adding that his contacts with science people from Turkey will always continue. Shechtman also said that he was an admirer of Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey, and defined him as one of the world's greatest leaders.
