TRNC'S Talat: " I believe the UN secretary-General will take action on Cyprus"

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Mehmet Ali Talat, currently in Dakar, Senegal to attend a summit meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), yesterday met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon. Afterwards, Talat said, "I got the impression he would take action" on the Cyprus issue, and stressed the importance of active UN participation in the process. "The secretary-general said that the UN would take a position after looking into the situation," he added. "He said that he soon would send Lynn Pascoe, the UN's undersecretary-general for political affairs, to Cyprus."
