46th Golden Orange Festival kicks off with musical tribute to the '60s
This year's Altin Portakal (Golden Orange) International Film Festival started on Saturday in Antalya. Clips projected on huge screens from black-and-white Turkish movies from the heyday of Turkish cinema, an era when Yesilcam produced over 130 films annually, and a selection of romantic classical Turkish songs all but synonymous with those movies were the highlights of the 46th festival's opening gala on Saturday night. The themes of this year's festival are Turkish cinema in the 1960s and movie soundtracks. Over 20 legendary big-screen personalities, most of them festival regulars, waved at audiences from the festival stage, some recounting how they won their first prizes during the festival's early years.
