65th Frankfurth book fair opens its doors

The Frankfurt Book Fair, the biggest book and media fair in the world with around 7,300 exhibitors from 100 countries, opened its doors on Wednesday for its 65th edition. 300,000 book lovers are expected to visit the fair this year. Turkey is being represented in the fair in its own national stand, which is the largest one of the fair, showcasing nearly 3,000 books from over 200 publishing houses. Also an exhibition titled "Piri Reis: Mediterranean's Sage - Mystery of 500 Years" is on display on the occasion of UNESCO's declaring 2013 as the 500th Anniversary of the Piri Reis Map. Opening ceremony of the fair, which will last for five days, was attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Berlin Huseyin Avni Karslioglu, Culture and Tourism Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Nihat Gul, Frankfurt Consul General Ufuk Ekici and Author Dogan Hizlan.
