Afghan and Pakistani presindets grateful to Gul
As part of a dinner organized by President Abdullah Gul on Monday, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai have come to the table for the first time since the assassination of former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani in September. Zardari and Karzai thanked Gul for bringing them together, saying that not a single country except Turkey could have succeeded in this. The two leaders have accepted the invitation of Gul to attend the trilateral summit between the two countries and Turkey and thus Turkey have smoothed the things between the "hostile brothers." During the two-day summit, two leaders have never held bilateral meetings, but the "baklava diplomacy" carried out by Gul caused Zardari and Karzai to come to the table at a dinner organized at the Ciragan Palace following the summit. But the Turkish side hasn't attended the dinner to leave the two leaders alone. Gul also sent a tray full of baklava to the two leaders, which was welcomed by them with gratitude. During the dinner, a common mechanism to be established in order to investigate the Rabbani assassination was discussed in detail.
