AKP convention to be held in Ankara
The Justice and Development Party (AKP) convention will be held in Ankara on September 30 with participation of approximately 30,000 people. As part of the convention, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will run for the leadership post for the last time and announce "a political manifesto" outlining his party's vision and goals for the centennial anniversary of the founding of Turkey in 2023. The speech to be made by Erdogan will be simultaneously translated into English, French, German, Arab, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese. Among those who were invited to the convention are prominent world leaders such as US President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Russian President Vladimir Putin. These leaders are expected to send a representative to the convention.
