Albanian President topi decorated with honorary doctorate
President of Albania Bamir Topi was decorated with title of honorary doctorate by Istanbul's Aydin University (IAU). Topi made a speech in 'Transformation of Albania, the Balkans, International Developments in the last 20 years' meeting within the framework of "Leaders Conference 2" which was held by the IAU and the Eurasian Association of Universities (EAU). Topi called for increasing cooperation with universities in Albania, saying that the friendship between Turkey and Albania was not based on politics, but brotherhood of peoples. Speaking in his part, Turkey's EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis recalled that Ataturk wanted Albanian people to have confidence in Turks in a letter he has sent to the Albanian King in 1934, adding that Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia have tried to promote Turkey's EU accession process. The IAU will give scholarship to 10 students who will be chosen by Topi.
