Kosovo's national folk dance troupe won the Golden Karagoz prize at the 27th International Golden Karagoz Folk Dance Competition on Friday in the northwestern city of Bursa in addition to a cash prize of 5,000 euros, the Dogan news agency reported. Georgian folk dancers came in second place, winning the Silver Karagoz and 3,000 euros, in the competition, held as part of the 52nd International Bursa Festival, while the Bronze Karagoz and 2,000 euros went to China's dancers, who came in third.
Turkish director Yesim Ustaoglu's film "Araf" (Somewhere in Between) was named winner of the Special Jury Mention in the 10th Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival's International Feature Competition on Sunday, according to reports in the Turkish media. Another festival winner from Turkey was the Armenian-Turkish-French co-production "Saroyan Land." Directed by Lusin Dink, the film won the Silver Apricot prize in the Armenian Panorama competition, the Radikal daily said on Monday.
Husband-and-wife architects Jennifer Broutin Farah and Kamal Farah will be in Istanbul this week for a talk on Thursday at Istanbul's SALT Beyoglu art center. The US-based couple will discuss "strategies for cities as adaptive technologies" in the talk, which will follow another presentation by architect Rajeev Thakker, about Columbia University's Studio-X project in Mumbai. Part of SALT's "Who's in town?" series, the talks are scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. at SALT Beyoglu's Walk-in Cinema. The talks will be held in English.
