Atalay pledges to help judiciary bracnh

In reply to reporters' questions prior to a meeting on the fight against terrorism as part of the 4th Turkish Ambassadors Conference' at the Foreign Ministry yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay said that the government was working on a legislation to expand the freedom of thought that does not contain violence as part of a democracy package. Stating that the Justice and Development Party (AKP) has been making arrangements aimed at democratization since the day it was established, Atalay said, "Our work is currently on shortening the period of prosecution, as the Justice Ministry has also stated. Besides, we are mainly focusing on expanding the freedom of thought that does not contain violence trough an analysis of such legislations as the Turkish Penal Code and the Anti-terror Law."
