Babacan calls on Turkish businessmen to invest in Greece
Speaking at the Turkey Meetings organized by daily Turkiye on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan said that more trade and investments with Turkey present the only path for Greece to save its future. "I think it is very important for our businessmen to invest in Greece. It is really not an easy country for the business community to do business in. Therefore, it is better to purchase established facilities, functioning companies. It takes too long to build them from scratch," Babacan said. In reply to a question, Babacan touched upon the new incentive package, saying, "The incentives focusing on strategic sectors will be applied. We will support the products which not only cut import, but also create added value." Babacan also said that the government supported the Central Bank which attaches priority to price stability and the fight against inflation and that time would show that the Central Bank was right. Babacan also attended the Global Humanitarian Development Forum which was jointly organized by the Development Ministry and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) yesterday. Speaking at the forum, Babacan stated that that almost no one earns less than $2 a day in Turkey, and the number of those who earn less than $4 a day is only 3.6 percent.
