Turkey's Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis who is currently in Paris to hold official contacts responded to the remarks made by EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger, who said that a German chancellor, along with a French counterpart, would kneel down to Ankara and ask Turks to join them in a few years. Speaking to reporters, Bagis said, "I don't know if they will come on their knees or go down on their knees, but I believe they will certainly fall on their knees. Turkey has the sufficient strength and arguments to make those who approach it malevolently fall on their knees. But they shouldn't be worried; Turkey is hospitable. It would not bring anybody to his knees on its door steps. But Turkey would apply the necessary physiotherapy to those whose knees give out.  It's important that Oettinger has called on European officials to have a reasonable stance. We hope that his call reaches its address."
