The 2nd Media Forum of Turkish Speaking Countries and Communities was held in Baku over the weekend. Speaking at the forum, Director General of Press and Information Murat Karakaya said that this year's forum in Azerbaijan was organized as part of a more comprehensive framework than it was in Ankara last year and that not only Turkish speaking countries, but also Turkish societies were involved in that framework. Karakaya defined the expansion of the forum in a way to also cover Turkish societies as a considerably good step, adding, "It was concluded to establish a structure during last year's Media Forum of Turkish Speaking Countries, which I define as the main development. I hope we will declare the establishment of a Turkish Media Platform at this meeting to be indicated in final declaration of the forum." Karakaya stated that the media from Turkish speaking countries and societies would be able to come together to discuss problems and establish a network thanks to the Turkish Media Platform, which was a very important development. Furthermore, the 1st Medical Congress of Turkish Speaking Countries was held in Baku yesterday and attended by 83 academics, including 35 professors, associate professors and specialists from 16 departments at the Istanbul University's Medical School, Cerrahpasa University's Medical School and Cardiology Institute, as well as 38 academics from 17 departments from Azerbaijan.
