Bryza: "The US can't pressure on Turkey over Cyprus"
US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Matthew Bryza, who this week is holding talks both in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Greek Cyprus, yesterday said that Turkey has become a superpower in its region and that the US can't pressure Turkey about the Cyprus issue. When Greek Cypriot administration Parliament Speaker Marios Karoyan asked Bryza to put pressure on Turkey on the issue, Bryza replied, "The US can't do it … If this were the '70s, '80s or '90s, it could, but the US putting pressure on Turkey now is out of the question."
