Businessmen from Izmir travel to Azerbaijan

The industrialist members of the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry (EBSO) traveled to Azerbaijan over the weekend upon the invitation of the Petkim Petro-chemistry Holding Co. Inc. to hold bilateral meetings with their counterparts. The meetings were attended by 102 EBSO members and 205 Azerbaijani businessmen. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Sevinc Hasanova, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister for Economic Development said that the feeling of two states and one nation has made progress with strategic steps and that the cooperation in gas was greatly important for the future. "The relations between the two countries reached a new stage and developed rapidly, after Azerbaijan has become a state. The Azerbaijani-Turkish relations set an example to the entire world. The pipelines to be established as a result of new agreements to be signed with regard to Baku, Tbilisi, Ceyhan and Erzurum pipelines are also likely to play an important role in terms of energy security of Europe and other countries," said Hasanova. Speaking in his part, Turcas Oil Executive Erdal Aksoy said that Azerbaijan has developed greatly worldwide in the last 20 years. "The partnership between Turkey and Azerbaijan will emerge as a vitally important power complementing each other. As for the Karabagh issue, I believe that nobody will be able to take a stand against this power and Armenians will also try to find a job in Azerbaijan, even if efforts are made to create legal obstacles," said Aksoy. Following the opening speeches, businessmen from the two countries held meetings with regard to food, textile, furniture, chemistry, plastic, construction, cooling, mining, iron and steel, metal, machinery and vehicle sectors.
