Caglayan announces export figures

Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan said that exports to neighboring countries have increased by 150 folds in the last five years, despite the crisis caused by the  Arab Spring and economic crisis. Stating that the government is aimed at reaching export figures of $500 billion by the year 2023, Caglayan said that an import  increase by 11 percent was necessary towards that end. Reiterating that exports to Bulgaria, Algeria, Morocco, Georgia, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Tunis  and Greece amounted to $15 billion in 2007, Caglayan said, "Despite the economic crises in Europe and other crises deriving from the Arab Spring, our  exports to our neighbors and Northern African countries have increased."
