Caglayan in Japan to promote new incentive system

Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan yesterday traveled to Tokyo, where he met chief executives of prominent Japanese companies including Daiichi, Mitsui, Mitsubishi and Aeon. Touching upon his contacts in Tokyo, Caglayan said that these firms were interested in every sector in Turkey from merchandise trade to food and chemical industry. Caglayan said that Japanese firms have acted costively with regard to making investments in Turkey, adding, "But they are now facing the realities of life, and thus considering Turkey close to them due to traditional similarities, as well as common disasters between the two countries." Stating that Mitsubishi CEO Yorihiko Kojima shared their new operations in Turkey and decisions to make investments in Turkey with him, Caglayan said that Kojima told him that they were ready to make all sorts of cooperation with Turkish firms in the third countries. Caglayan also reiterated that Itochu CEO Yoichi Kobayashi was the only person from the Far East region attending a meeting of the Investment Advisory Council which was chaired by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, saying that the company made investments in Turkey’s truck and bus industry and also contributed to the construction of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge in Istanbul. Caglayan added that he urged them not to be late with regard to the nuclear issue. Stating that he has decided to hold contacts in Japan mainly to provide them with information regarding the new incentive package of Turkey, Caglayan said, "They are considerably enthusiastic about our incentive package, the impacts of which will be evident in the upcoming days."
