Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan yesterday met with Benin's President Boni Yayi. During the meeting, Caglayan said that his duty was to increase Turkey's import and decrease export as far as possible. "But when it comes to Benin and the African continent, we attach more importance to further imports from Benin," Caglayan noted. Caglayan added that the bilateral volume between the two countries amounted to $5.4 million ten years ago and $81 million in 2012. And that they aimed to increase this amount to $120 million. For his part, Yayi said that Turkey was a power for Benin. "My country wants to unite its richness and resources with those of Turkey and get into such partnership," Yayi said, adding that his country wants to get a $300 million loan from Turkey for its energy investments of 550 megawatts.
