Carney defines Turkey as one of strongest partners

During a press briefing on Tuesday, White House spokesperson Jay Carney sent condolences to the families of the victims and expressed sympathy for the wounded as a result of twin car bombings in the southern town of Reyhanli which occurred on Saturday. "We stand with Turkey against such horrific violence," Carney said. Stating that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit underscores the close friendship between the United States and Turkey and the strategic importance they place on broadening and deepening their relationship moving forward, Carney said, "It's important to note always, but particularly appropriate with the arrival of the Prime Minister, that Turkey is one of our strongest partners. Carney added that the US has worked shoulder to shoulder with the Turks to counter terror threats.
