Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a surprise meeting with CIA chief David Petraeus and Director of US National Intelligence James Clapper yesterday. Turkish National Intelligence Organization chief Hakan Fidan also attended the meeting. During the meeting, measures to be taken against possible terrorist PKK attacks to occur in spring, instant intelligence sharing, clashes in Syria and ethical conflicts in Iraq were discussed. Reportedly, Erdogan expressed his concerns over latest developments in Syria, warning that a deepening instability in Syria will create a living space for organizations operating in the region, mostly the terrorist PKK. Erdogan also stressed the successful work conducted by a tripartite mechanism which was established by the US, Turkey and Iraq. Petraeus also met with officials from the General Staff.
