Clinton: "Heal ties with Turkey"
As part of his 12-day tour in nine countries located in Europe and the Middle East, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with Israeli President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Speaking at a press conference in Jerusalem, Clinton urged Peres and Binyamin, as well as Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Defense Minister Ehud Barak to strengthen the Palestinian administration and said that the US would use "all elements of American power" to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. According to the Haaretz daily, Clinton also urged Netanyahu to heal Israel's ties with Turkey, saying that it would be for the benefit of Israel as well.
