Cypriot Leaders to meet again under UN talks
Leaders of the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot communities will meet one more time under UN-brokered settlement talks on Cyprus next Tuesday. Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Dervis Eroglu and Greek Cypriot leader Dimitris Christofias will meet at the buffer zone residence of Lisa Buttenheim, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's special representative on Cyprus, the Anatolia News Agency reported. The gathering will be the two leaders' first meeting since their July 7 tripartite summit with Ban in Switzerland. During that summit, Eroglu and Christofias agreed to boost negotiations and expressed will to hold intensified talks on basic issues of contention through October. Eroglu has expressed hope that after a settlement has been reached between the TRNC and Greek Cyprus, a unified Cyprus could assume the rotating EU presidency in July 2012. Eroglu was also set to meet with EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule in Brussels on Thursday.
