Davutoglu holds official talks in Algeria

As part of his official talks in Algeria, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu met with Turkish businessmen and citizens, and introduced Turkey’s Ambassador to Algeria Adnan Kececi to some Turkish people living in Algeria. Davutoglu also held a meeting with Algerian reporters and columnists, during which he said that Turkey attached great importance to Africa and that 23 embassies which have been opened in the continent in the last five years were an indication of this situation. "Turkey had 12 embassies in Africa five years ago. Now we have 35 embassies there," said Davutoglu. Stating that Turkey considers Algeria which is a strategic actor in its region as Turkey’s gate opening to Africa, Davutoglu gave some details about his meeting with Algerian Energy Minister Yusuf Yusufi. Davutoglu said that when he met with Yusufi, he talked with Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz on the phone and they agreed on a visit to be paid by Yildiz to finalize the negotiations. As part of his visit, Davutoglu also met with Algerian Parliament Speaker MohammedAl-Arabi Ould Khalifa and Chairman of Senate Abdul-KaderBin Saleh and conveyed his gladness over the successfully held elections in Algeria in May.
