Davutoglu meets with Slovakian counterpart
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu visited Slovakia to promote relationships with that country and the region, calling on the European Union to lift its visa requirements for Turkish citizens and praising Turkey-Slovakia relations on Wednesday. During his visit to Bratislava, Davutoglu met with his Slovakian counterpart Miroslav Lajcak and held a joint press conference. Speaking at the press conference, Lajcak praised Turkey's decision to lift visa requirement for Slovakian citizens. For his part, Davutoglu said Turkey awaits similar step from Bratislava and its lobby within the EU for Turkish citizens. Stating that the two countries have boosted their ties, Davutoglu said that the presidents and prime ministers have made mutual visits in recent years and he wanted to pay a visit this time in order to strengthen friendship between the two countries.
