Davutoglu participates in meeting on Syria
FM Ahmet Davutoglu participated in the "Ministerial Meeting of Syria Bordering Countries" organized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on September 4 in Geneva. As the number of Syrian refugees in Turkey recently exceeded 500,000, United Nations and the countries bordering Syria made a call for international support to Syrian refugees. Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Davutoglu was asked by a Chinese journalist why some countries are supporting military action in Syria although the use of chemical weapons has not yet been proven in Syria. "I invite you to visit the refugee camps in Turkey to see the children crying over the loss of their parents. I am confident to say that unless we act now; either the current or the succeeding UN Secretary General, in 20 years from now, will have to apologize for not taking action and stopping the bloodshed." Davutoglu said in response.
