Despite what Greek parliamentarians say, there is no comparison between recent protests in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the uprisings in the Middle East, said Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu yesterday. "They (the parliamentarians) were trying to get us into trouble but as I said there is no relation between these two," he said in Strasbourg, France, after addressing the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). "Cyprus has a fair and democratic election tradition. Cyprus also enjoys widespread union rights. What is happening there has to do with the government's economic program, so if need be we can compare it to the protests in Greece. They reacted in a democratic ways, just like in Greece."
