At the Turkish Embassy in Washington, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Sunday received representatives of American-Turkish associations, Turkish citizens working for the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, and members of the Turkish American Scientists and Scholars Association (TASSA). Speaking at the reception, Davutoglu said Turkey has moved from wielding influence in the Middle East to broader influence in world politics, and is also among the few countries worldwide to emerge from the global economic crisis with a rising economy. Saying that this progress was not through the efforts of politicians alone, Davutoglu added, "A strong political will is important, and you will always feel this behind you. Wherever in the world they may be, every Turkish citizen can feel the power of the Republic of Turkey behind them." Davutoglu also said that Turkey's influence and power are unquestionable.
