Dual carriageways save 15.5 billion liras on gas
As dual carriageway projects were completed, Turkey saved 15.5 billion liras on gas, Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim said during his speech at the 11th Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Forum in Istanbul. The opening ceremony was attended by President Abdullah Gul, Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim, Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin, Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu, Defence Minister Ismet Yilmaz and Customs and Trade Minister Hayati Yazici, as well as businessmen. Yildirim noted that his ministry has given momentum to rail construction and introduced high-speed trains and that achievement of 2023 goals in railways would save more than 1 billion Turkish liras. Yildirim also underlined that fatal traffic accidents decreased by 50 percent, despite the twofold increase in the number of vehicles in 10 years.
