EP socialist urge end to EU ambivalence on Turkey

The European Commission's annual progress report on Turkey released this week reportedly had a tremendous impact on the European Parliament and Socialist Group, the EP's second-biggest, which urged European leaders to stop acting ambivalent about Turkey. "Turkey has taken solid steps, but a new, wide-ranging constitution is a must for European standards," said Socialist Group Vice Chair Adrian Severin. "And Europe must give a clear message to Turkey while ending ambivalent statements."
