Erdogan considers lack of trukish flags at Nevruz celebrations "provocative"
As part of his official visit to the Netherlands, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday met with Queen Beatrix. The meeting was held in Huis Ten Bosch palace in The Hague and closed to the press. Afterwards, Erdogan held official contacts with his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte. Speaking at a joint press conference with Rutte following the meeting, Erdogan told journalists that he considered an end to armed struggle call by the outlawed PKK head Abdullah Ocalan in a letter which was read earlier on Thursday during Nevruz celebrations in the province of Diyarbakir as a positive development. "Ocalan's call is a positive development. But the essential thing is what’s put into practice. We would like to see the reflections of Ocalan’s remarks in the shortest time possible," Erdogan noted, but added that he would have been pleased to see the Turkish flag there as well. "The fact that the Turkish flag could not be seen during Nowruz celebrations in Diyarbakir was a provocative approach of those trying to negatively affect the solution process," Erdogan also said.
