Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday hosted a luncheon for foreign ministers now in Turkey to attend the First Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Turkey-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) High Level Dialogue. Speaking before the luncheon, Erdogan touched on this week's unrest in China's Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region, which has left over 150 people dead, calling on Chinese authorities to determine who is responsible for the violence and to make sure justice is done. Also speaking at the gathering, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Turkey is following the situation closely, adding, "Neither Turkey nor the Turkish public can accept this picture." A joint declaration issued at the end of the GCC meeting expressed concern about the situation.
