Erdogan: "Turkey will take action againsy PKK in Syria"
Speaking on the TV 24 channel on Wednesday, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan told in an interview with that a PKK-linked Kurdish presence could give Turkey cause to intervene militarily in Syria. "There is a structure in northern Syria which was built by terrorist organization PKK and the Democratic Union of Kurdistan (PYD). Such a structure involves sensitive balances. We need to evaluate such a structure. We cannot just accept such a structure. A structure in northern Syria for us means a structure of terror. It is impossible for us to look favorably at such a structure. If a formation that's going to be a problem, if there is a terror operation, if an irritant, emerges, then intervening there would be our most natural right," Erdogan said, adding that Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu will travel to northern Iraq next week to talk with officials there about the situation in northern Syria and our sensitivities. Touching on the situation in Syria, Erdogan said, "I want to stress it very openly. We wish to see an end to the tyranny in Syria. As soon as the tyranny is over, our Syrian brothers and sisters would reach tranquility and prosperity. Allegations that we approach the Assad regime based on sectarianism are not accurate. We have never accepted a world based on sectarianism. We have accepted a world based only on humanity." Erdogan added that Iran has lost all hopes on Syria and that Russia declared on Wednesday that they would never approve the Syrian regime use chemical weapons," Erdogan stated. "The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold a summit of heads of state in Mecca. Our President Abdullah Gul will attend the summit. We will do what we have to do as Turkey on Syria at the summit," Erdogan added.
