Erdogan receives Turkish Olympiads' special award
The closing ceremony of the 10th Turkish Olympiads was organized yesterday in Istanbul's Turk Telekom Arena Stadium and attended by tens of thousands of people, as well as Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, his spouse Emine Erdogan, Customs and Trade Minister Hayati Yazici and Istanbul Governor Huseyin Avni Mutlu to watch the outstanding performances 290 student competitors. During the event, organizers from the International Turkish Education Association (TURKCEDER) delivered the Turkish Olympiads' Special Award to Erdogan for his "support for efforts to promote the Turkish language." Delivering a speech following his reception of the award, Erdogan hailed the 10th Turkish Olympiads as an effective way to promote Turkish language and culture and expressed his gratitude to devoted teachers working in Turkish schools in more than 140 countries all over the world. "Turkey is a friend and brother of your country," Erdogan told foreign students in the stadium.
