Science, Industry and Technology Minister Nihat Ergun yesterday received Chief of the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs Johann Schneider-Ammann and an accompanying delegation of businessmen. Reportedly, aside from Schneider-Ammann, the delegation included the CEOs of prominent corporations operating in pharmacy, machinery, aviation, energy and related sectors such as Zurich Insurance Company, Novartis, Nestle and Swiss Bank. Speaking at the meeting, Schneider-Ammann said that they have come to Ankara to boost ties with Turkey, adding that he has personally witnessed how successful the Turkish economy was and how rapidly it was moving.  Stating that it is not a coincidence that more than 600 Swiss companies operate in Turkey, Schneider-Ammann said that Turkey's position also provided opportunities for opening to other markets as well. Speaking in his part, Ergun said that Turkey has become a center of attraction in the face of regional developments in the world. "It's a considerably strategic step for investors to invest in Turkey, and thus address the European, Central Eastern, Asian and African markets at the same time. Turkey has also ensured its political and economic stability, which is an important guarantee for investors. At this point, there is no risk posed to investors," Ergun added.
