Ethiopian athletes on Sunday dominated at the 31st Istanbul Eurasia Marathon, the world's only intercontinental marathon. Kasime Adilo Roba of Ethiopia came in first among the men with a time of 2:12:14, while his Ethiopian compatriot Bizunesh Urgesa came first in the women's category. Faisal Bader Shebto of Qatar was the runner-up in the men’s marathon, and Joseph Kahugu of Kenya came in third. All events started on the Asian side of Istanbul and ended on the European side, passing many of the city’s most beautiful sights. The finish line for the marathon and the 15-kilometer race was at the Hippodrome, one of the oldest sporting arenas in the world, decorated with many historical monuments, including the 3,500-year-old Egyptian Obelisk of Theodosius.
