Former US congressman: "With republican gains, passage of an Armenian resolution is unlikely"
After Republicans won more seats in the US Congress, passage of a resolution recognizing Armenian claims of "genocide" is very unlikely, said former US Congressmen Jim Kolbe on Monday. "There will be change in the tone" of the Congress, he told a roundtable discussion organized by Sabanci University’s Istanbul Policy Center. "The Republicans are much more supportive of relations with Turkey.” Kolbe served over 20 years in Congress and is now a senior transatlantic fellow with the German Marshall Fund.
