A monument was unveiled in Gaza yesterday honoring nine Turkish activists who were killed last year in an Israeli raid on an international flotilla seeking to break the blockade on the Gaza Strip. Hamas Prime Minister Ismael Haniyeh attended a ceremony dedicating the monument on the first anniversary of the deadly raid. Haniyeh said the monument commemorates "the heroes who drew the world's attention to the siege of Gaza." Speaking of a new flotilla planned for later this month, he added, "The second freedom flotilla will be a good step to break the blockade on Gaza."
