German court postpones neo-Nazi trial
A German court in Munich has postponed the trial of five members of the neo-Nazi ring the National Socialist Underground (NSU) until May 6 after Germany's Constitutional Court ruled that it must provide better access to foreign media. The Federal Constitutional Court had ruled on Friday that the Munich court handling the trial must grant access to foreign media after no Turkish journalists had been able to obtain accreditation under a first-come, first-served applications procedure. The postponement will allow the Munich court to reorganize the accreditation. The Munich court had allocated 50 seats to all media representatives on a first-come-first-served basis, but none went to Turkish journalists, despite the fact that eight of the victims were ethnic Turks. This prompted Turkish newspaper Sabah to make a complaint which the German Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe upheld."In view of the Constitutional Court ruling ... a new accreditation process is necessary," the Munich court said in a statement, adding that it could not complete this process before April 17.
