Gul approves presidential election law

President Abdullah Gul yesterday approved the bill regarding presidential elections that says Gul is entitled to serve a seven-year term only once. Under the new law, Gul's term will expire in 2014 and all subsequent terms will be five years.  Furthermore, former presidents Ahmet Necdet Sezer, Suleyman Demirel and Kenan Evren will not be able to become president for the second time.
