Gul, Cicek, Erdogan issue congratulatory messages

President Abdullah Gul issued a message on Sunday on the occasion of the Victory Week and the 941st anniversary of the victory of Malazgirt. In his message, Gul said that Turkey has altogether initiated a mobilization of development in the wake of the proclamation of the republic under the leadership of Ataturk, and obviously covered a great ground in line with its objective to go beyond the level of contemporary civilization, adding that the steps taken in political, economic, social and cultural fields in recent years show that Turkey will enjoy a bright future. On the occasion of the victory of Malazgirt, Gul said in his message that the unique victory which has been gained by great commander and statesman Ataturk paved the way to the conquest of Anatolia and initiated one thousand-year historical process for the establishment of the Republic of Turkey. Issuing a message, Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek also said that our nation, inspired by its great history and spirit of national struggle, will preserve its sense of solidarity and brotherhood without giving any chance to separatists and provokers. Furthermore, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a message that our precious nation has shaped future through its victories throughout history, and our heroic nation has settled in Anatolia thanks to the victory of Malazgirt and announced to the entire world through the Dardanelles War and the War of Independence that this territory would be our native country forever.
