Gul receives children from 14 countires as part of International Children's Festival
President Abdullah Gul on Wednesday received a delegation of the General Manager of the Turkish Radio and Television (TRT) Ibrahim Sahin, and a group of children coming from 14 countries, including Turkey, on the occasion of the TRT 35th International April 23rd Children's Festival. In an address to the children, Gul said that the first children's festival in the world was in Turkey on April 23, 1920, when the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) was opened and when Ataturk gave this day to all children. Stating that today's children will be governing this country in the future, Gul said, "It was sagacity of Ataturk to dedicate April 23rd to all children indeed."
