Gul tells ambassadors to watch for rising racism
Turkey's ambassadors serving abroad are very important for representing the nation in foreign countries, President Abdullah Gul said yesterday. "Stay on high alert against rising racism and xenophobia, particularly in Europe," he told the third ambassadors conference in Ankara. "Bear in mind all aspects of the issue, act with common sense, and help to solve the problem." Gul said embassies and consulates represent Turkey's interests abroad, stressing the ambassadors' duty to protect the material and moral rights of Turkish citizens outside Turkey. "Maximum service to the citizens should be your priority," he added.
