Historic Day in US-Turkey trade relations, says Caglayan
With the first meeting of the High Level Business Committee, Turkey officially kicked off the free trade agreement negotiations with USA. Speaking at a press conference following his meeting with the US Minister of Trade Penny Pritzker and the US Trade Representative Michael Froman, Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan said the main goal of the committee would be to assess the potential free trade agreement. "Today is a historic day in US-Turkey trade relations" said Caglayan, adding that another task of the committee would be to make an impact analysis of the transatlantic trade and investment partnership between USA and the European Union. The formation of a business committee had been discussed between Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the US President Obama during Erdogan's visit to the US in May.
