While the French operation against rebels in Mali is underway, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said that external intervention would not ensure stability. "Nobody has the right and privilege to kill people in the name of Islam," Ihsanoglu noted. Speaking at a press conference in London where he has traveled to hold official contacts, Ihsanoglu said that those people [who use force against the civilian people and terrorize the social life] were actually terrorists with political targets and that defining them as Islamists would mean serving their aims.
