Concerned by the spread of protests to Syria, and in the wake of intense telephone lobbying with Syrian President Bashar Assad, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sent Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to Damascus to keep up the pro-reform message. After arriving in Syria today, Davutoglu is set to push Assad to keep his promises of reform. Turkey is following events in Syria closely and with great sorrow, he is expected to tell the Syrian leader.
