Industrial production bounces back in 6.2 percent jump
Turkish year-on-year industrial production figures registered a 6.2 percent recovery in September over the same month a year ago, representing a strong comeback from August's decline. A report published by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) suggested on Thursday that Turkey produced 6.2 percent more industrial goods this September compared to the same month of 2011. The figure is almost three times higher than the market expectations. September's recovery over August was 3.9 percent. Industrial production suffered a 1.5 percent decline in August, the first such decline after 32 months of consecutive growth. Thursday's data arrive as a surprise to markets at a time of slowing Turkish economic growth performance.
